The medical strand of the EAST Project in August 2016 entailed the IUG students writing short reports outlining the medical problem they had chosen to collaborate on with their peers in Glasgow. It was quite a challenging task because of the time frames and a restrictive word limit but the students did very well!
The feedback was provided by both language tutors from English for Academic Study (EAS) Unit and staff from the School of Medicine at the University of Glasgow. The tutors annotated the reports indicating ways of improving the language and analysis as well as wrote an overall commentary outlining strengths and areas for improvement and suggestions how to move forward. Here is a video of an interview with Bill Guariento and Brían Doonan, both from EAS, reflecting on their experience of writing up feedback on the students’ written outputs.
